Armed with a permanent marker

So I have finally got round actually working on my charity shop found Levis denim jacket! Ive finally finished college and have some free time so im relishing the free time until I start Art college after the summer!

Where I live there is not many haberdashery shops and the only one that  there is is TINY! So I ventured through to the next town to mine where there is an much bigger independent department store which is a haven for all crafters, fashion designers, gardeners you name it, the place is crammed full of amazing products! But i was there for embellishments and fabric.

So during the past few weeks i have literally drawn all over my jacket with felt tip. I really wanted to create something people would have to look twice at , quite punky, people in my town would think was far to outrageous to wear, which wouldn't look out of place in Camden.

I just love the look of Korean writing. It looks like a lovely pattern and just looks cool I think! So I wrote all over the shoulder area of my jacket. If I remember rightly it is reads something to do with love which I typed into Google Translate. The left arm is Love written in different languages. After I had done this I kind of regretted it. It is unique but there is something about it that I would change. So, on my trips to the department store yesterday I happened to find some iron on badges which I have been desperate to find somewhere! Where I live there is just nothing here! I would have to venture over to Edinburgh to find things I am after and its pretty hard to find specific little shops in Edinburgh.

iron and sew on patches
So I think I should sew and iron on these onto the arm with all the writing on. I was planning on putting them on the other arm all together to create an arm with just patches on. I got the idea from an image of a jacket I found on pinterest where the whole back was covered in patches. But due to my over eager imagination with a felt tip pen, I think I may attach these to the already covered arm.

Ive also took some inspiration from my previous blog post. I got some fabric paint, Printed off an image I would like to transfer to my jacket and painted it on!
I knew this wouldnt be as easy as it looked but it was actually not that bad.

This is Elvis's mugshot. Cutting this out was the hard part. As you can see the right eye was a bit of a pain, but I think in the original photograph he may have a black eye which is shadowed.
I painted it on to the back of my jacket with the paint, left it to dry for a bit and turned out like this...

Im quite happy with it, but I would change the hands which look a little crooked.

Overall, Im slowly getting there. My problem is im far to fussy about how to decorate and distress my jackets.
